Slant is a product recommendation community with the goal of making it effortless to find the best product, app or game for you. No more spending hours doing product research with tabs full of forums and reviews. Jun 15, 2007 Stripes take on a modern slant. June 15, 2007 — 10.00am. The White Stripes are now a big-label act. Jack found his creative juices were flowing again. Last year, he released his first non. Other complaints focus on the shape of the lettering and the spacing between the red stripes. According to critics, these have been laid out in a haphazard manner, with the slant on the letter 'J' not running parallel with the slope on the number 2.

When it comes to maintaining eyebrows, I'm a big believer in the power of some good ol' tweezers. But if you've ever purchased your own pair from a beauty supply, you might have noticed just how many different types of tweezers there are. (Seriously, who came up with all of these?) And because it seems like the common pair of slant tweezers are multipurpose enough to cover a range of tweezer-related needs, what do all of those other shapes actually do?

Even if you're more of a waxer or a threader, there are plenty of other reasons that make it a good idea to have a pair of tweezers around. Whether you just need to touch up around your arch, have an ingrown hair that needs to be artfully plucked, or just need a hand applying a pair of falsies, the right pair of tweezers will easily get the job done. So you can be sure you have the right type on hand, here's what all of those differently shaped tweezers are capable of. Just make sure that, regardless of the shape you select, to always pick a pair with stainless steel tips. Not only will they last longer, but they won't rust and cause irritation when they come in contact with your skin.

1. Slant-Tip Tweezers

The classic slant-tip is a staple. This shape is ideal for tweezing brows as the edge can easily grab hairs while the point can be used for more precise plucking. This style can even be used to apply false lashes.

2. Point-Tip Tweezers

Tweezerman Point Tweezer, $19, Amazon

I know this style looks scary, and they can be a little dangerous if you don't have a steady hand. But if you do, these will help you pluck the thinnest or shortest of hairs. This style is also ideal for tweezing ingrown hairs or even removing splinters. And if you're into nail art, point-tip tweezers can help grab and place small rhinestones or decals.

3. Pointed-Slant Tweezers

Combining the previous two types of tweezers will give you this bad boy. Although the slant is more severe, it will still grab hairs as easily as a classic, slant-tip. And even though the point is not as sharp as regular, point-tip tweezers it will still offer enough precision to grab fine hairs and relieve ingrowns and splinters.

4. Round-Tip Tweezers

ApeX Original Round Tip Precision Tweezers, $19, Amazon

While round-tip tweezers are not the best for tweezing straight-on as they may grab too many hairs at once, they are good for tweezing at various angles. Plus, the rounded tip makes this type safer, as the risk of accidentally stabbing yourself while tweezing is significantly reduced.

5. Flat-Tip Tweezers

Long Flat Tip Black Plastic Anti-static Tweezers, $4, Amazon

Flat tips are generally not recommended for tweezing hairs as they will grab too many at once and pull unevenly. However, they can still be used in other ways, like applying false lashes.

6. Arched-Claw Tweezers

Ultra Claw Tip Tweezer Stainless, $18, Amazon

Instead of the traditional taper that tweezers usually have, an arched-claw will provide some more leverage by allowing you to better see what hairs you have trapped. This style can be especially useful when tweezing harder-to-see areas like around the bikini line or harder-to-see, short or light-colored hairs.

7. Wide-Grip Tweezers

Wide Grip Slant Tweezer, $15, Amazon

Wide-grip tweezers can come with a variety of tip shapes, but the idea is that the wider body provides extra comfort and control. So if you feel like you can be a little messy, a wider grip may help increase your skill.

Striped Accent walls are just SO cute! Today we’re going to show you how to paint stripes on a wall. This striped accent wall tutorial is an easy DIY project that gives you a major impact in any space! Painting Stripes on walls is easy and fun!

How to paint stripes on wall

This room was already painted with Glidden Pebble Grey. Grey is a hard color to find the perfect shade but I lucked out here! I LOVE the paint color in my living room!

Striped Accent Wall Project Materials

  • Painter’s Tape
  • Paint (I used Behr Swiss Coffee for my white and Glidden Pebble Grey for the grey paint colors)
  • Quality paint brush – shop the BEST paint brush here
  • tape measure
  • level
  • pencil

How to paint stripes on a wall

Step 1: Paint Base Coat

When painting stripes on walls, you’re going to first paint the wall a solid color. I did the entire room grey and wanted to add white stripes on one wall as an accent wall. This is the first step to painting stripes on a wall.

Step 2: Measure

Next, comes measuring! My goodness, this can be difficult but I figured out an amazing system to make this easier! I DID NOT use a laser leveler. I heard that it was a nightmare and honestly, I didn’t even want to try since I know others that didn’t have good luck with it.
This method is only works if you do NOT have a slanted or vaulted ceiling! My ceiling is level to the ground so I was able to use the ceiling and baseboards as a guide. Check with a level before you start.
I started at the top of my wall against the ceiling and measured 9″ down and used a pencil and made a tiny mark at 9″. Then, I scooted down about 6 inches and repeated this step all the way down the wall. I repeated this step all the way across the wall and then started on the next stripe down. I ended up with 5 white stripes and 5 grey stripes.

PRO TIP: Label which color goes where. When you’re staring at the taped wall for a couple hours it can get distracting and you can lose track of which color goes where.

Step 3: Level

Use a level (a level that is 24 inches or longer is best!) and a pencil to lightly draw your horizontal stripes on the wall. Re-measure the spaces between your pencil stripes to be sure they are all even. Measure twice, Paint Once!

Step 4: Tape / Mask Sides

Tape your lines making sure that your tape is on the opposite side of where you will be painting. The width of the stripe is most important so make SURE you’re taping the correct side of the line.

PRO TIP: Use a popsicle stick or credit card to smooth any bubbles out of your tape and seal it to the wall.

Next, I taped off the sides of the wall on the “white” labeled stripes to get a clean look against my other grey wall. If you are doing stripes on multiple or all of your walls this step isn’t necessary!

Step 5: Dry Brush

I used a nearly dry paint brush (a fresh, clean paint brush with very little paint) to LIGHTLY coat the edges of your stripe where the painter’s tape is. I did this and let it dry and then used a Dollar Tree trim roller to roll the rest of the stripe and my lines came out AMAZINGLY straight. It did not bleed ANYWHERE!

Step 6: Roll second coat of paint on the striped accent wall

Not gonna lie, I LOVE IT! I was so proud of myself to do it while my hubby was at school! I ran out of paint and he brought me some more on his way home and helped me with the last little bit of painting! I could tell he was skeptical when I told him I was doing stripes on the wall but he said he really likes it! YAY! Finally, when you’re done painting, you want to peel of the painter’s tape before it is totally dry. I get impatient and peel it off pretty much right away and I was BLOWN AWAY that my lines were perfect! No bleeding at all! It was amazing!
