Accent menu: On a Mac computer keyboard, hold down the letter you want to add an accent to for several seconds, after which a small menu pops up with different accent options for that letter. Each option for a particular letter appears with a number underneath it.
- To check whether key repeat is enabled on your Mac: Click the ‘Apple’ icon in your Mac’s toolbar. Select ‘System Preferences Keyboard.’ Select the ‘Keyboard’ tab. Make sure the ‘Key Repeat’ slider is set to the ‘Off’ position. Try pressing the key in question again, and the accent menu should appear without any problems.
- Select the word or paragraph that you want to apply shading to. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Shading. Under Theme Colors, click the color that you want to use to shade your selection. Note: If you want to use a color that isn't a theme color, choose one under Standard Colors or click More Colors.
